Amit is designated as a full Professor at the School of Business, Centennial College- Canada’s first Applied Arts & Technology College. He has been teaching and conducting applied research projects for fifteen years. Prior to his academic career, he worked in the dynamic medical biotechnology industry responsible for formulating and implementing international business strategies for two European MNCs (Sanofi Pasteur & Boehringer Mannheim). He has graduate degrees in both the natural and social sciences- a Masters degree in the Life Sciences (Molecular Biology) from Bombay University and a Masters degree in Environmental Studies (Sustainability) from York University, Canada. He is passionate about corporate social responsibility, social entrepreneurship, political economy of globalization and international commercialization strategies of disruptive innovations- the main areas of his teaching and research.He has been the principal investigator in several applied research projects solving business problems for Ontario-based SMEs (small and medium sized enterprises- responsible for over 90% of Canada’s employment). The research projects have spanned the digital media, renewable energy, sustainable coffee supply chain and social innovation sectors generating significant competitive advantages for both the industry partners and student researchers. He has served in an Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges & Universities (MTCU) taskforce on integrating new immigrants into the Canadian economy. He has been recently nominated for the prestigious Industry Research Chair for Colleges (IRCC). As a member of the college President’s Task Force on Learning, he has contributed significantly to the Centennial College signature CSR Program- Global Citizenship & Equity (GCE) - which has won several awards conferred by the Canadian Bureau of International Education (CBIE). Amit is also Visiting Professor of CSR at the Jindal Global University (JGU) in India, where he conducts graduate level seminars on CSR models in India.
