Mo is the Vice President of Business Innovation at Google (X). In his role he focuses on building business and partnership models to enable Google [X]’s innovation to meet the world. [X] has been instrumental over the last few years in terms of building visionary technologies to solve major problems that affect billions of people including Project Loon, aiming to provide internet coverage to every square inch of our planet to connect 5 billion unconnected people, Project Makani, aiming to reinvent green energy generation through wind powered airborne turbines, Google Glass, Self-Driving Cars and many more. Mo joined Google in 2007, managing Google’s business in over 50 countries and focusing on his biggest passion; Emerging Markets and the vast degree of diversity and challenges they face. He is fascinated by the role that technology plays in empowering people in these communities and has dedicated his career towards that passion. Over the years, Mo has started close to half of Google’s operations worldwide. Mo holds an Engineer degree along with an MBA degree from Maastricht School of Management in the Netherlands. He has an impressive combined career of 24 years, starting at IBM Egypt as a Systems Engineer before moving to a Sales role in the government sector. Venturing into the UAE, Mo joined NCR Abu Dhabi to cover the non-finance sector. He is also a serial entrepreneur who has cofounded more than 15 businesses in his career. He actively serves as a Board Member in several technology, health and fitness and consumer goods startups as well as several government technology and innovation boards in the Middle East and Eastern Europe.
